Projects and Network Activities

A key achievement of the alliance is the development of a fully operational micro-credential framework aligned with the European Council Recommendation. Building on this, EU.ACE has co-created several subject-specific micro-credentials, including a dedicated “How to Micro-Credential” module that supports staff and partners in designing and implementing such formats. In parallel, the alliance is piloting digital credentialing solutions in cooperation with SAPIO, enabling secure, verifiable, and portable recognition of learning achievements and directly contributing to the European Skills Portability Initiative.

Beyond implementation, EU.ACE is actively shaping European higher education policy. The alliance has developed and presented a policy paper advocating lifelong learning as the fourth pillar of the Bologna Process, engaging directly with the European Commission at cabinet level and submitting a proposal for a Council Recommendation. This level of engagement reflects EU.ACE’s ambition to act not only as a project consortium, but as a strategic policy actor within the European Higher Education Area.

Collaboration is a defining feature of EU.ACE. EU.ACE partners are engaged in multiple joint third-party funded projects, including initiatives such as CLEAR – Continuous Learning for EU Green Awareness and Resilience, TRIC – Towards Resilient and Innovative Communities, and Future Skills for Lifelong Learning and Extended Education, and in joint study programs such as Education for All: Emplowering Higher Education through Quality Micro-Credentials. These projects further strengthen the alliance’s capacity to deliver high-quality, transnational collaboration and demonstrate its readiness to scale impact at European level.

Overall, EU.ACE is not an emerging initiative but an already operational alliance with proven capacity to coordinate complex international activities, foster innovation in lifelong learning, and actively contribute to shaping the future of European higher education.
