EU.ACE at Spread EUI: Showcasing Our Consortium’s Journey and Values

European University Alliances gathered in Bonn

Autumn 2025 has been an eventful time for EU.ACE, with many of its partner universities actively participating in the „Spread EUI“ event in Bonn — a key gathering for European University Alliances to share innovative practices and learn from one another.

The EU.ACE consortium was represented across multiple sessions and formats. Emese Matus contributed to the opening panel, emphasizing the importance of strategic personnel deployment as new roles emerge from the European Universities Initiative. As Matus highlighted, success depends not only on resources but on proper training and sustainable support structures for staff.

Marlies Ngouateu-Bussemaker presented our poster showcasing how diversity strengthens the EU.ACE consortium, while Melina Klepsch engaged participants in a BarCamp discussion on stackable micro-credentials — a core element of our flexible learning pathways. Stefan Okruch contributed valuable insights to multiple discussions throughout the event.

As a consortium on its way to becoming an officially funded alliance, the consortium is proud to share its activities and demonstrate what has been already achieved. For example: the EU.ACE consortium was even described as a role model for „sustainability in reverse“ — building lasting structures and collaboration before formal funding, while others are already planning their next funding round.

The event reinforced the commitment to lifelong learning, inclusive collaboration, and meaningful system transformation across the European Higher Education Area.
